Public Notice

The United States District Court for the District of South Carolina continues to closely monitor the national response to the respiratory illness caused by Coronavirus (COVID-19). We would like to assure the public that we are reviewing the recommended guidelines provided by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control and the Centers for Disease Control to ensure our planning is based on the best available information from public health experts to ensure the safety and health of our visitors and staff.

For those required to appear in court or who are called as jurors:

At this time, the Department of State  has issued Level 3 and 4 Travel Advisories for certain affected countries, such as China, Iran, Italy, and South Korea. In the event that you have either visited a country or are exposed to someone who has recently been to a country where there is a travel advisory, or you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath, or you have been diagnosed with or have had contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19, please contact the court before appearing. The court will make reasonable accommodations and reschedule appearances and hearings as needed.

Currently, there are no adjustments to court operations other than the Restrictions on Visitors to Courthouses due to Coronavirus (COVID-19).  However, please continue to check our website, www.scd.uscourts.gov, for updates as the situation may evolve.
