    There have been reports nationwide of fake Notices of Electronic Filing (NEFs) sent to attorneys and law firms. These fake NEFs are phishing attempts that aim to prompt recipients to reply, after which they receive a follow-up email with a link to access a document, leading to a malicious website.
    Please exercise caution if you receive these fake NEFs: validate cases and documentation only through CM/ECF, and avoid downloading attachments or clicking links from unofficial or questionable sources.

    The U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina is aware that members of the public have received fake arrest warrant documents and phone calls purporting to be from our court that request payment of money to another entity to avoid prosecution.

    Our court will not attempt to collect funds from you via an arrest warrant or phone call.

    If you receive a written request or a phone call from someone who identifies himself or herself as a court officer claiming to be collecting bail or a fine or payment, please contact the U.S. District Courthouse nearest you with questions.
    Do NOT attempt to meet anyone at a location indicated in the written request or phone call.
