Jurors are responsible for making their own hotel accommodations. You may ask for the government rate when making your reservation. Present your summons at check-in as proof.

The entrance to the garage is located on Richland Street at the white “Public Parking” sign. Visitor parking is on Level 4 and above. Do NOT park in a reserved space. Bring at least $20 cash per day for parking. You will be reimbursed for parking in the garage after your service.

If you park at a metered space, within one block of the courthouse, place your summons on the dash to avoid a ticket. Do NOT park at a red meter, a reserved space, or a bagged meter. We cannot reimburse you for parking tickets or towing fees.

Residence

The District of South Carolina is divided into four jury areas which may require travel to a courthouse some distance from one's home. Since all jurors are selected randomly by computer, a person may be summoned to a courthouse which is not the closest Federal Courthouse to their home. Residing in one of the following counties makes you eligible to serve in Columbia.

Aiken Chester Lexington
Allendale Fairfield Orangeburg
Bamberg Kershaw Richland
Barnwell Lancaster Sumter
Calhoun Lee York

If you have moved and no longer reside in one of the above counties, please send a letter to Clerk of Court, 901 Richland Street, Columbia, SC 29201 and you will be excused.
