Lodging
If you reside more than 80 miles from the courthouse, you are authorized to spend the night. Bring enough money to last for several days in case you are selected to serve on a case starting after jury selection.
Some hotels offer discounts to federal jurors so ask for the room rate since government rates are seasonal and subject to availability. Present your jury summons at check-in and verify the rate. You will be reimbursed for food, lodging and mileage at the rates indicated on your summons.

Parking
Park in the Charleston County Cumberland Street Parking Garage at 82 Cumberland Street. The garage is located two blocks North of the Courthouse on Cumberland Street, between Meeting Street and Church Street. You are responsible for paying the parking garage fee and you will be reimbursed for this expense in your check at the rate indicated on the summons.

Residence
The District of South Carolina is divided into three large jury areas which may require travel to a courthouse some distance from one's home. Since all jurors are selected randomly by computer, a person may be summoned to a courthouse which is not the closest Federal Courthouse to their home. Residing in one of the following counties makes you eligible to serve in Aiken, Charleston, or Beaufort.

From the North: Take US Hwy 17 South over the Cooper River via the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge. Take the Meeting Street exit. At the light, turn left onto Meeting Street. Go 1.9 miles and turn left onto Cumberland Street. The parking garage will be on your left.
From the West: Take I-26 East into Charleston. Take exit 221B on the left toward Meeting Street/Visitor Center. At the light, turn right onto Meeting Street. Go 1.4 miles and turn left onto Cumberland Street. The parking garage will be on your left.
From the South: Take US Hwy 17 North. Take the Lockwood
Driveexit toward Visitor Center. Keep right at the fork and merge onto Lockwood Drive. Continue onto Broad Street. Go 1.0 miles and turn left onto Meeting Street. Turn right onto Cumberland Street. The parking garage will be on your left.
Parking: Park in the Charleston County Cumberland Street Parking Garage at 82 Cumberland Street. Please bring $20 cash per day for your parking fee. You will be reimbursed for this fee in your check.
From the Parking Garage to the Courthouse: Walk west on Cumberland Street toward Meeting Street. Turn left on Meeting Street. Walk two blocks and cross Broad Street. The courthouse is the second building on the right. There is a fountain in front of the courthouse.
