Lodging

If you live more than 80 miles from the courthouse, and the reporting time makes travel inconvenient, you may receive reimbursement of $144 for the night before jury selection, and during the duration of the trial.

The hotels listed are conveniently located in or near the Greenville downtown area. Receipts for food or lodging are not required. Jurors are responsible for making their own hotel accommodations. You may ask for the government rate when making your reservation. Present your summons at check-in as proof.

Click here for Greenville hotel information. This list is provided as a courtesy, not as an endorsement. This is not an all-inclusive listing of hotel options.

If you elect lodging in excess of the reimbursement rate, you will be responsible for the overage.

Should you have questions, please contact the Jury Division by email at Jury@scd.uscourts.gov or call (803)-253-3198 during regular business hours.

Residence

The District of South Carolina is divided into four large jury areas which may require travel to a courthouse some distance from one's home. Since all jurors are selected randomly by computer, a person may be summoned to a courthouse which is not the closest Federal Courthouse to their home. Residing in one of the following counties makes you eligible to serve in Greenville.

Abbeville Greenville Newberry Spartanburg
Anderson Greenwood Oconee Union
Cherokee Laurens Pickens
Edgefield McCormick Saluda

If you have moved and no longer reside in one of the above counties, please send a letter to Clerk of Court, 901 Richland Street, Columbia, SC 29201 and you will be excused.
