Lodging
If you reside more than 80 miles from the courthouse, you are authorized to spend the night. Bring enough money to last for several days in case you are selected to serve on a case starting after jury selection.
Some hotels offer discounts to federal jurors so ask for the room rate since government rates are seasonal and subject to availability. Present your jury summons at check-in and verify the rate. You will be reimbursed for food, lodging and mileage at the rates indicated on your summons.

Residence
The District of South Carolina is divided into three large jury areas which may require travel to a courthouse some distance from one's home. Since all jurors are selected randomly by computer, a person may be summoned to a courthouse which is not the closest Federal Courthouse to their home. Residing in one of the following counties makes you eligible to serve in Aiken, Beaufort and Charleston.

| From US-1 Southbound: Follow
US-1 South toward Aiken; In Aiken US-1 South becomes York Street.
Continue until Park Avenue, turn right. The courthouse is located
three blocks down on the left.
From I-20 Westbound: Follow I-20 toward Augusta;
take exit number 22 at US-1 South. Follow US-1 South to Aiken;
US-1 becomes York Street. Continue until Park Avenue, turn right.

From Hwy 78 Westbound: Follow Hwy 78 to Aiken;
Hwy 78 becomes Richland Avenue; follow Richland Avenue to York
Street; turn left onto York and then right onto Park Avenue. The
courthouse is located three blocks down on the left.
From I-26 Westbound: Follow I-26 to I-20 and
take I-20 toward Augusta. Continue on I-20; take exit number 22
at US-1 South. Follow US-1 South to Aiken; US-1 South becomes
York Street. Continue until Park Avenue, turn right. The courthouse
is located three blocks down on the left.
